While teaching overseas it can be difficult to access quality professional development that meets your professional needs while also meeting the requirements of Australian teacher registration bodies to maintain your registration back home.
Our online courses allow you to gain the professional learning you want while gaining the accreditation you need.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do online courses cost?
Teachers working overseas are able to access our heavily discounted ‘Casual Teacher’ rate of $59 per course.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes, once you have completed a course you are able to access your certificate immediately.
How do the courses fit Australian certification standards?
Teachers registered in NSW: All of our courses are endorsed by NESA (formerly BOSTES) for teachers at Proficient level, meaning that our online courses contribute to your required number of endorsed PD hours for maintaining registration.
Teachers registered in Victoria: A number of our courses address APST Standards 1.5, 1.6 and 4.1. These are the Standards that reference ‘special needs’. The VIT currently require all teachers to address these particular standards within their professional learning in order to maintain registration.
Teachers registered in SA, WA, NT, TAS, QLD: All of our online courses are recognised by your teacher registration bodies as contributing to your required hours for maintaining registration.
How do the courses fit certification standards outside Australia?
Unfortunately, we’re not able to give specific, reliable advice on how our PD might fit in with your current school system and their requirements (we’ve had teachers from everywhere from Estonia to Noumea – we simply don’t know every system!).
While in the majority of cases our courses are accepted by teaching authorities outside of Australia, we cannot guarantee this will be true in every case. Please do check with your relevant local authority if you are looking for a course to meet local standards.
Will the course content be relevant to me?
Yes. We have a strong focus on providing PD that suits Australian classrooms and fits with Australian approaches to teaching. However, we also ensure that our course material is broadly applicable in as many different teaching contexts as possible.
Our approach to achieving this is to thoroughly explain underlying research in the topic area before detailing evidence-based strategies with examples. Importantly, we then conclude with a series of reflection questions which have been carefully designed to stimulate your thinking about how the material relates to your teaching context.
How can I register?
Registering from overseas is just as simple as registering from inside Australia. The simplest way is to register online in a few simple steps. If you prefer, you can also send us an email to arrange registration offline.
